My babies are turning 5!

Well, really, I guess their not babies anymore.  I never thought that we would make it to 5!  After the infant stage being so hard (with reflux and protein allergies!) age 5 could not come quick enough.  It's hard to believe how much they've grown.  They've turned into two very different little girls.  Very independent and having their own personalities, they make me realize that there is no way I could live without them.

Happy Birthday, Rissie and Ruby.  Thank you for bringing such happiness into my life.

Disgusted to say the least....

Since I'm kinda new to the blogger world, I was checking out the stats for my blog, and my girls' blog.  When I stumbled upon somethings that really disturbed me.

When looking at searches to find their blog, I noticed several searches for "little girls on the potty" and "girls and their potties."  I saw the occasion search for potty training and that sort of thing, but that's not what bothers me.  I am MORE than sure that the first searches were not intended for good.

I felt blood flush to my face I was so upset.  That some pervert had been looking at my blog to see my little girls naked.  Thank goodness nothing as far as private parts were showing, but I think you get my point.

To take something so pure and innocent as two little girls potty training and turning into something dark and nasty makes me completely sick.  I have learned my lesson.  Beware of what you put on the internet, you never know who is looking.

March is here!

So, we are officially into the 3rd month of the year.  Before I know it, it's going to be time to buy Christmas presents again!  Can't a girl get a break?!?

But before then, we have the girl's 5th birthday and a must anticipated trip to Disney World!  The girls know that we are going, but they don't have a clue what it's going to be like!  We are scaling down the birthday party this year and making Disney their big present from us.

So I've been trying to get things together.  We've made some special plans for the trip.  We scheduled a visit to the Bippity Bobbitty Boutique.  Where the girls will dress up as their favorite princess and have their hair and nails done.  I'm sooo jealous!  Evidently,  I'm too old to participate!  And we also have some character dinners planned.  I'm very excited!

One month till our first real "family vacation."  Hopefully, we'll all make it back alive and with smiles on our faces!

Adios Amigos!

We took the girls to a chinese buffet yesterday for the first time.  Tim was on lunch from work and we met up for a quick bite.  The girls were not impressed, and I have to say I wasn't either.  But we did find something to eat and of course the fortune cookies were a hit.

Before leaving, the little chinese lady who spoke very little english, told the girls bye.  Well no sense in not putting her foreign language skills to work, Ruby politely yelled back at her, "Adios Amigos!"  I could not contain myself!  And neither could have the restaurant.

The little chinese woman had the funniest look on her face.  I bet she hasn't heard that before, and I'm sure not from a 4 year old!

Japanese Aka Fire

The girls love eating Japanese. But considering they are 4 years old, it's a whole lot easier to say "fire"

Shopping Therapy

After being sick and trapped in the house, what's a girl to do? Shop of course! We hit up Claire's at the mall to try glasses and hair pieces.

Sick kids

I really hate when the girls are sick.  While I'm sure every kid in this area has had some form of a cold, Rissie came down with viral croup.  After dance on Friday, she began to feel bad and running a temp.  And of course that God-awful "seal bark" cough.  Thank goodness the pediatrician has office hours on Saturday.  After a steroid to help with the inflammation, a couple of days in she started to sound a whole let better.

Then of course, Ruby catches it.  Nice!  We love to share at our house.  So after being stuck in the house for several days, they will be returning to preschool tomorrow.  Hallelujah!  My grey hair was already starting to double!

I wonder what kindergarten will be like?  Hoping that they don't drag a bunch of crap home on me!

Father Daughter Dance

Tim took the girls to their first Father Daughter Dance.  I was sick with a cold and couldn't attend (even though I really wanted to see how it went!)  They had such a good time, but didn't do much dancing with him.  But what would you expect from a bunch of 4 year olds?!?

They really enjoy dressing up, which could prove to be quite expensive as they get older.  Girls may be cuter to dress, but they are also more expensive.  I should have had boys!

Poor Stripes

In case you didn't know, Stripes is our cat.  She wondered up as a stray last September very malnourished and on deaths door.  But, after about $1000, she's as good as new...almost.

A couple of months ago, we discovered a lot of sores she'd been scratching and basically pulling her hair out trying to bite.  Took her to the vet, yet again, and was told she had to go on a special cat food and have B12 shots once a week for a couple of months.  Are you kidding!?!  The cat food was $25 a bag and we went through at least one, once a week.  And the B12 shots were about another $25 a week.  We started calling her the "Million Dollar Cat"

After a couple of weeks of this, it was decided that she had a skin/contact allergy and that a steroid shot (another $60) would do the trick, at least for a couple of months.

2 months later, back where we started, but even worse.  Under her little arms, the skin was completely raw and she couldn't sit still long enough for me to even pet her.  Back to the vet....This time, they found one flea on her tail, and decided that was the culprit.  So she has a flea allergy.  Ok, what does that require?  A dose of flea stuff on the neck once a month and antibiotics to take care of the skin.  Well considering we also have Stinky (our other cat) she would have to be treated too.  And not to mention our outside cat Bob that only spends two minutes in the morning eating without letting us touch him.  Cost of flea treatment?  $86 for 6 doses.  Hopefully this will do the trick.

My love of animals will quickly render us broke I'm afraid!  But, for a good laugh, when the vet ask me if Stripes had had any diarrhea, I told her no.  Rissie quickly chimed in, "No, but Granny has that!"  It almost made that $200 visit to the vet and 1 and 45 minute wait bearable!

Ahhhh the weekend

Tim has had a rough couple of weeks at work and I'm so glad he's off for the weekend.  He can use the rest.  Heck, I might even let him sleep in tomorrow....maybe.  Rissie and Ruby are camping out at Granny and Papaw's this weekend so we can visit our good friends for a little food and drink.  Looking forward to having the evening off and drinking as much as possible.

Had a great time with my friend Sarah last weekend.  She's 26, not married, and no kids.  So basically a free bird.  After attending the girl's tea party with me, we went to dinner with Tim and then came home and played on the Wii (she beat my behind at tennis!) and then passed out.  I had to explain to her that's the way it's going to be.  You may still be in your 20's but you're getting old!  Nothing like keeping someone younger around to make you feel younger!

Thank goodness for good friends and good times!

Tea Party Birthday!

The girls were invited to a "Tea Party" themed birthday party over the weekend.  Everyone wore fancy dresses and the place was decorated the way any princess would want it!  I wish I could be more crafty and come up with ideas like that, but I just don't see it happening.

The girls will be turning 5 in March, so trying to decide what kind of party we will be having.  So used to having it at the house (as we have done the last several years) but I stress so much, and clean up takes days!  Love the idea of the inflatable in the backyard, along with the cake and ice cream.  It does make clean up a lot easier.  But there's still a mess inside the house.  When you put 25-30 preschoolers together, that tends to be the outcome!

Come on tomorrow....

It had been one of those days. Where you just wanted to go to bed and pull the covers over your head. I had just made it home from my mom's house, who lives a hour away. We stayed the night so that we could visit for my Dad's birthday. I had tons of stuff to do, and to top it all off I had the makings of a horrible earache.

For some reason, motrin makes me tired. But I figured I would be fine considering my ear was killing me. I dozed off. Hahaha you say. That's right, with 4 year old twins, I dozed off. I woke up to the smell of fingernail polish. So as I walk into the kitchen, I see Rissie standing there with her hands to her side like she's been caught in the candy jar. I look at the kitchen table to find a painted heart in purple sparkly nail polish along with paint on the table. Obviously I wasn't happy and when asked, her reply to why she did it was, "I don't remember."

There comes a time when you just have to bust your kids butt, and this one of them. So I spanked her and sent her to her room. After Ruby sees what's going, she automatically starts cleaning, and saying she'll do whatever I say. Wow that would be first!

So I sit down on the couch, only to find the number 5 written several times with Rissie's name signed at the bottom. How nice. Even better, it's in ink. I'm pretty sure steam came out my ears. Again, her response is I don't remember why I did it so again her bottom was busted and sent to her room. Tim worked late that day and couldn't get home soon enough. While she wailed from her bedroom, Ruby sat beside me on the couch reminding me she had a been a good girl.

The day ended, without any fatalities thank goodness. Rissie hugged me the next morning, telling me she was sorry.....followed by some drummed up tears and a "Can I go to Andie's birthday party?"

It's amazing how early they start being manipulative....

Aunt Sarah

I love my friend Sarah. She is 26 years old, unmarried and no children. So bless her heart, even though she thinks she knows what's going on. She really doesn't. Rissie and Ruby have ballet on Fridays so afterwards we met up with Sarah for lunch. She asked if I would like to get sushi, and I had to remind her that I didn't think the girls would be interested.

After sitting through lunch with my little heifers (my pet name for the girls) and a trip to the bathroom where they had to touch everything, we headed out for cupcakes. After stuffing themselves on icing, I decided it might be a good idea to walk some of it off.

So why not try some place new? Ok, sure. Not like you're going to be able to look. Not with 2-4 year olds wanting to touch everything. Oh let's just open all the bulk bins and stick our head in and smell. I don't think anyone will mind. Out of that trip to Earth Fare, I ended up with decaf coffee, because I didn't take time to read the label, and a Mexican Coke Cola for Tim. Sounds productive huh?

Sarah's great idea was hitting the "Dollar Stop" at Target. Of course the girls were in heaven, so I had to limit their purchases to two each. Puts a damper on things, but other wise we'd walk out with everything in the store. They both picked out the same thing; an enormous red heart ring and a small flower pot with seeds inside (which I doubt will grow.) Aunt Sarah's idea was to take the ring out before I payed for it and let them wear it around the store. So now, will they probably not only lose the ring, but break it in the process....It broke. Thank goodness it was dollar.

It's always fun for Aunt Sarah, as we call her, to come along. She likes to play mom, round up the kids, and pretend that they actually listen to her. I don't think it will hurt to let her keep on thinking that.

Afternoon with the girls!

It's so nice to have some time to yourself. Rissie and Ruby are in preschool Tuesday and Thursdays and I have 4 1/2 hours of quite time as I like to call it. But some days, I do miss them and try to pick them up a little early instead of waiting to the last minute.

When I picked them up yesterday, we decided that when we got home that we'd place dress up. Sure I have piles of laundry to do and dinner to fix, but who can resist two little girls wanting to fix their hair and put on make up? So first thing on the agenda-bath! Washed hair and then blow dried. Believe it or not, that's a treat for them, odd considering I think it's such a chore to do mine. Then of course came make up. We did some blush, a little eyeshadow and lipgloss. Wish it were that simple for me!

We painted nails, and then after everyone started getting tired, Care Bears to the rescue! Before I knew it, the girls were asking for dinner and when Daddy would be home. Needless to say, bedtime was a breeze.

I enjoy days like this, because goodness knows, I don't get many!

About Me

My name is Bambi, yes that is my real name, before you ask. My mother blessed me with this name and I've been punished ever since. I'm 32 years old and the mother of fraternal girl twins who are 4 years old. Everyday is an adventure. Whether it be a trip to the grocery store or lunch time at home. There is never a moment of quietness around here, unless of course it's bedtime.

I started this blog as an outlet. It's nothing fancy, just somewhere for me to keep my thoughts and wrap up the day. At the time, things that happen may not be funny, it sometimes helps me to look back at it and laugh.

My hopes are that some other stay at home mom, or working mother will get a kick out of the chaos I call my daily routine. Go ahead, it's ok to laugh. Because when I see you out and your kid is kicking and screaming I'm secretly laughing too.
